Prologue

There are countless games in the world.

From ancient games like Go to modern virtual reality games, there are truly countless games.

However, no matter how many types of games exist, they all pursue the same value: fun!

People play games because they are fun.

Although there may be other reasons why people play games, fundamentally, it's for the sake of "fun."

And depending on how one experiences that fun, gamers can be broadly divided into two categories:

- "Hey, why is that ranker playing so recklessly? He should've targeted the enemy healer instead of going in reverse!"

- "Yeah, can't you see you're causing harm to other teammates because of your actions? Are you trolling? Is this a joke to you? If you're going to act like that, then leave right now!"

- "I just landed a big hit in this raid. Seriously, if we fail, we're done for."

- "You play to win the game!"

Those who find fun in the "victory" of games.

They view games as a means of competition, enjoying the thrill of surpassing others through gameplay.

They are willing to sacrifice anything for victory or a higher rank.

They are commonly referred to as "hardcore gamers."

And opposing them are the "casual gamers."

- "Oh, the game crashed again. Is the wizard just for show?"

- "Is it a prejudice to think that shotguns should shoot bullets just because they're guns? Maybe swinging it would be more effective?"

- "Oh, I lost again because I played as I pleased. Should I create another character?"

Casual gamers don't obsess over winning and instead aim to enjoy various aspects of the game.

Although winning is nice, they don't care much if they lose.

Even if they seem likely to lose, if it's fun, they'll keep playing.

When these two types of people play games together, conflict is inevitable because they pursue different values.

Of course, the solution is simple: hardcore gamers play with hardcore gamers, and casual gamers play with casual gamers, or they play alone if they prefer. No one is forcing them.

However, in a rare occurrence, what if hardcore and casual gamers had to play together until the end?

"It's just the way it is. Regretful beings will eventually fade away. Isn't that right?"

"...I don't know, man. Damn. What did I do wrong in my past life?"

This is the story of a hardcore-casual gamer striving for greatness.
